Abstract
We report two different unique HIV-1 recombinant viruses from two HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) in Beijing, China. Phylogenetic analysis of near full-length genomes (NFLG) showed that the unique recombinant forms (URFs) were comprised of gene regions from two circulating recombinant forms, CRF01_AE and CRF07_BC, both common in China. The parental CRF01_AE region of the recombinants clustered together with a previously described cluster 4 lineage of CRF01_AE. The CRF07_BC regions of both the recombinants clustered within the CRF07_BC radiation, but were distinct from other CRF07_BC reference sequences. The two recombinant forms had two breakpoints in common. The emergence of the two URFs indicates the ongoing generation of recombinant viruses involving CRF01_AE and CRF07_BC, and may provide insight into our understanding of the dynamics and complexity of the HIV-1 epidemic in China.Entities:
