Modification of shell vial centrifugation method for detection of herpes simplex virus.

S Y Lin1.

Abstract

The shell vial centrifugation method for the detection of herpes simplex virus was modified with the addition of maintenance medium before specimen inoculation rather than after. Sensitivity and specificity values were comparable to those obtained with postcentrifugation medium addition.
