Can I play?

Claire M A LeBlanc, Larry C Lands.

Abstract

Physical activity and participation in sports are important for the well being of children and youth and should be encouraged by health care providers. Individuals with chronic diseases are often less active, which can have a negative impact on their health. This article will review the effects of exercise on a few chronic medical conditions including juvenile arthritis, cystic fibrosis, and hypertension. The clinician's role in providing advice about sport participation will also be addressed. Copyright 2014, SLACK Incorporated.
