Abstract
The macrophage colony-stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1, M-CSF) induces the proliferation and supports the survival of mononuclear phagocytes and mediates its pleiotropic actions by binding to cell surface receptors encoded by the c-fms proto-oncogene. The structure, biologic activities, and therapeutic potential of CSF-1 and the role of its receptor in signal transduction in normal and transformed cells are discussed.Entities:
