Abstract
Mesothelial/monocytic incidental cardiac excrescence (MICE) is a rare and distinctive benign lesion often found during cardiac valve replacement. To date, 43 cases have been reported in the English literature. This lesion is important because of the potential for confusion with primary or metastatic malignancy. We report a case of MICE in a 47-year-old Chinese man with rheumatic heart disease whose MICE was discovered during mitral and aortic valve replacement. Histopathological examination of the lesion combined with immunohistochemistry confirmed the diagnosis of MICE.Entities:
