Abstract
BACKGROUND: The inter-generational transmission of violence (ITV) hypothesis and polyvictimisation have been studied extensively. The extant evidence suggests that individuals from violent families are at increased risk of subsequent intimate partner violence (IPV) and that a proportion of individuals experience victimisation across multiple rather than single IPV domains. Both ITV and polyvictimisation are shown to increase the risk of psychiatric morbidity, alcohol use, and anger expression.Entities:

Victimisation subscale endorsements across the life-course (N=264)

| Sexual coercion | – | 40 (16.4) | 64 (26.4) |
Sexual coercion within parental relationships was not assessed in the current study. Values are representative of those endorsing one or more experiences in the relevant subscale domain. Categories are not mutually exclusive. %=percent of those who responded.
