Abstract
A neonate with gastroschisis had silo placement and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) monitoring of intestinal haemoglobin oxygen saturation (RSO2). An ischemic loop of bowel demonstrated decreased RSO2, with reversal of clinical ischemia and RSO2 postoperatively. This demonstrates possible advantage of monitoring intestinal RSO2 in neonates at risk of ischemia, and response to intervention.Entities:
