Abstract
This preliminary study included 30 skin and oral mucosa biopsies sampled various time intervals after CO2 laser incision. Samples taken after scalpel incision served as controls. During the first stages of healing, earlier fibroblast stimulation following laser incision was demonstrated by histoenzymologic and electron microscopy findings. Further more, immunohistochemical studies showed more significant, although slightly delayed, production of collagen III and fibronectin. Our findings are consistent with the very good quality of most scars obtained after laser surgery.Entities:
