Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Obesity is a well-known risk factor for type 2 diabetes. Genome-wide association studies have identified a number of genetic loci associated with obesity. The study combined data of both rs12970134 and its proxy rs17782313 which are known in high linkage disequilibrium (r2 = 0.850 in a combined population of Chinese Han and Japanese, as reported in the 1000 Genome Project).
