Abstract

Because the metallophilicity of attractive Pt(II)···Pt(II) interactions helps in the fabrication of columnar structures, terpyridine-Pt(II) complexes were used as planar counter cationic species for formation of charge-segregated assemblies using π-conjugated receptor-Cl(-) complexes as planar anions.
