Abstract
Gastrointestinal motility causes movement of food during digestion through contractions of the gut smooth muscle. The enteric nervous system regulates these events, and Muller et al. now find that its interaction with the immune system, in concert with gut microbiota, provides an additional layer of regulation to this complex task.Mesh:
