A regional analysis of suicide: the USA vs Sri Lanka.

D Lester.

Abstract

A regional analysis of suicide rates in the districts of Sri Lanka was carried out, and the results compared to an earlier regional analysis of suicide rates in the states of the USA. Some common results were identified, such as the correlation between suicide rates and interregion migration and the birth rate which were positive in both countries. The importance of simultaneous study of two or more nations in identifying generalizable findings was stressed.
