Abstract
Gene therapy delivery using viral vectors has demonstrated efficient transfection but has safety issues. The need for safer yet effective delivery systems has led to the active development of non-viral techniques. In this chapter, we will discuss two evolving techniques - sonoporation with microbubble contrast agents and electroporation with focus on their basic principle, parameters affecting delivery efficiency, current evolving techniques and future prospects.Mesh:
