[Comparative effectiveness of various methods of fluid therapy in the treatment of moderate and severe burn shock].

P I Maksimov.

Abstract

Clinical study of the efficacy of four types of fluid treatment in mild and moderately severe burn shock in 134 patients showed that the prescription of oral alkaline solutions is sufficient in mild burn shock whereas in moderately severe shock fluids must be given by infusion. Intravenous infusion of glucose-electrolyte solutions is sufficiently effective in such cases.
