Abstract
Ophthalmomyiasis refers to infestation of the eye by fly larvae. Although rare, cases have been reported from all over the world. Patients with ophthalmomyiasis suffer from itching, foreign body sensation and epiphora. Ophthalmomyiasis is mostly caused by larvae of Oestrus ovis, the common sheep botfly. Larvae of Oestrus ovis are photophobic and hide in the upper and lower fornix. First line treatment consists of mechanical removal of the larvae.Entities:
