Abstract
BACKGROUND: Increasing evidence on associations between mental health and chronic diseases like cardio-vascular disease and diabetes together with the fact that little is known about the prevalence of anxiety/depression and associated risk factors among Iraqi immigrants to Sweden, warrants a study in this group. The aim was to study the prevalence of anxiety and depression in immigrants from Iraq compared to native Swedes and compare socioeconomic and lifestyle-related factors associated with these conditions.Entities:

BMI = body mass index, HS = high school.
Data were adjusted for age, male sex, living alone, BMI, physical activity less than 150 min/week, education less than high school, unemployment, economic insecurity, trust in people, social participation, smoking and alcohol consumption.
*Participation in fewer than four social activities in last 12 months.
Associations are expressed as odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) and were calculated using logistic regression.
+p-value < 0.05, ++p-value < 0.01, +++p-value < 0.001.
