Abstract
A 22-year-old man presented to the emergency room on New Years Eve after a firecracker had exploded next to his left eye. Besides injuries to the eyelid, conjunctival and corneal trauma, a commotio retinae at the temporal periphery and the central retina were revealed funduscopically. A small full macular hole was detected by spectral domain optical coherence tomography scan (OCT). After topical treatment with tobramycin, fluorometholone and lubrication eye drops the best-corrected vision improved from 0.2 to 0.8 within 3 months and the follow-up OCT revealed a spontaneous closure of the macular hole.Entities:
