Biological fixation of a modified moore prosthesis.

C A Engh, J D Bobyn, J M Gorski.

Abstract

Clinical experience with a poroussurfaced modified Moore prosthesis designed for biological fixation is described. Principles of noncemented arthroplasty including details of patient selection, implant design and selection, and surgical technique are emphasized. Analysis of the first 100 patients with a minimum followup of two years indicates that the short term clinical results are similar to those obtained with conventional cemented hip arthroplasty.
