W A Grana, J Gruel, B Wedro, S Hollingsworth.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to document the frequency and serious nature of complications associated with ipsilateral femur and tibia fractures. This study is based on 23 consecutive cases reviewed during a five-year period. The emphasis is on the severity of the associated injury in other body systems, the relationship of the tibial fracture to the complications observed, and the high incidence of unrecognized knee ligament injuries.
