Abstract
We present a young man with type 1 diabetes mellitus and haemophilia A; who presented with oliguric acute kidney injury (AKI). He is also known to have chronic hepatitis C virus infection. On presentation, he had an active urinary sediment warranting a renal biopsy for definitive diagnosis and management. Although he was at high risk for bleeding we elected for renal biopsy with appropriate factor VIII supplementation and monitoring. Ultrasound-guided percutaneous renal biopsy was successful with no immediate or long-term complications. Biopsy revealed advanced diabetic glomerulosclerosis with mild chronic interstitial inflammation.Entities:
