Abstract
BACKGROUND: Many studies have investigated the impact of a wide range of social events on suicide-related behaviour. However, these studies have predominantly examined national events. The aim of this study is to provide a statistical evaluation of the relationship between mass gatherings in some relatively small urban sub-populations and the general suicide rates of a major city.Entities:

Significant relative risks (RR) as ratio of suicidal incidents after and before some mass events

RR = relative risk, the odds ratio of suicide-related behaviour incidences for 7 days after the event and 7 days before the event; p = probability of the null hypothesis that the odds ratio in the universe is equal to one. Bold type indicates significant findings.

RR = relative risk, risk of suicidal behaviour in a particular 7-days period compared with other times; p = probability according to two-sided Mann–Whitney test and Wilcoxon signed ranks test. Bold type indicates significant findings.
