Abstract
We present an unusual case of disseminated intravascular coagulopathy (DIC) complicating percutaneous laser-assisted lead extraction. DIC has not been previously reported in association with lead extraction. It is possible to have occurred following the denudement of venous endothelium and exposure of underlying fibrous tissue. Practitioners need to be aware of this rare but potentially fatal complication of transvenous lead extraction.Entities:
