[The effect of blue light on nitrite reduction in Chlorella].

H Strotmann1.

Abstract

Nitrite reduction in green plants is stimulated by energy from photosynthesis and by light of short wavelengths. On the basis of the kinetics and of the dependence on light intensity and quality it has been concluded that the nitrite reduction resulting from blue light operates independently of photosynthetic nitrite reduction. Instead it is thought that the blue light stimulates the respiration-linked nitrite reduction.
