Abstract
BACKGROUND: No previous studies have examined the effect of intensive exercise in systemic sclerosis patients with pulmonary impairment. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of an eight-week intensive aerobic exercise and muscle endurance training program for patients with systemic sclerosis with 50-100% of forced vital capacity.Entities:

0w = first assessment time point of the A-phase.
6w = last assessment time point of the A-phase, right before starting exercise.
14w = last assessment point of the B-phase, after completion of the 8 weeks of exercise.
VAS = visual analogue scale.
HAQ = Stanford Health Assessment Questionnaire.
SF-36 = Short Form 36.
