[The effect of 5-Aminouracil on the interphase structure of the nucleus in Vicia faba root tips].

A Resch1, D Schroeter.

Abstract

5-Aminouracil is known to inhibit mitosis. Upon treatment with this compound the ultrastructure of the interphase nucleus loses its normal density. This decondensing phenomenon is comparable to the behaviour of normal chromatin in the early prophase, so that an effect of 5-AU on the G2-phase is suggested.
