Central dilations in maturing Golgi cisternae -a common structural feature among plant cells?

Abstract

Centrally located dilations of the first or second distal-most Golgi cisternae can be observed in diverse plant cells. Their significance and distribution as well as a possible functional correlation to polysaccharide formation is discussed.
