Abstract
Bean chloroplasts treated with galactolipase (lipolytic acyl hydrolase) isolated from bean leaves showed an inhibition of photosystem I activity as measured by methyl viologen-mediated oxygen uptake and NADP(+) photoreduction. This inhibition was partially reversed by exogenous plastocyanin added to galactolipase-treated thylakoid membranes. Galactolipase released substantial amounts of endogenous plastocyanin (about 40%) from bean chloroplasts. The results are discussed with regard to the localization of plastocyanin in thylakoid membranes.Entities:
