Abstract
OBJECTIVE: The author reflects on lessons in becoming and being a psychiatry journal editor. METHODS: The author describes his transition from a writer to an editor and his development as an editor. RESULTS: Editors need to consider the originality, novelty, methodological rigor of manuscripts, as well as their prose and ethical integrity. CONCLUSION: The author hopes that others undertake the role of editor.
