A general approximate method for fitting additive and specific combining abilities to the diallel cross with unequal numbers of observations in the cells.

A method is given and illustrated by examples, for the analysis of incomplete diallel tables including the calculation of the coefficients in the expectations of mean squares. The method is applicable to any of the four basic diallel mating designs.
