Abstract
Little has been written about informal support of elderly people in Korea, an East Asian nation with a long tradition of family-centered parent care. Based on data on 450 elderly persons, this paper reports on the patterns of informal support networks of the elderly and support relationships in these networks. Koreans' resilient family networks and their nationwide efforts to develop services for the elderly and to preserve the tradition of at-home parent caring are discussed.Entities:
