New experiments with elderly care in rural China.

Abstract

This article tells how the recent changes in rural China in terms of population aging, family structure, and economic developments affect elderly care, and describes the innovations being developed to meet the challenge of a huge elderly population in the second or third decade of the next century. The data are drawn from a case-study of a village in Hunan Province.
