Abstract
We analyzed mutagenic and mitosis-modifying effects of silver nanoparticles (Allium test). Chromosome aberrations and laggings and micronuclei were simultaneously registered in the same sample. Mitotic and phase indexes were calculated. No mutagenic effects were detected after treatment with silver nanoparticles in doses of 1.0, 2.5, 5.0, and 50 mg/liter. Silver nanoparticles in a concentration of 50 mg/liter significantly increased the mitotic index. Nanoparticles in a dose of 5 mg/liter induced slight, but significant increase in mitotic index, but did not affect the ratio of phase indexes. Exposure to silver nanoparticles in concentrations of 1.0 and 2.5 mg/liter was not followed by modification of mitosis.Entities:
