Sir, We thank Dr Raina for showing interest in our article1. The two queries raised were regarding the criteria used to define body mass index (BMI) in this study and use of Kuppuswamy scale for assessment of socio-economic status of the study population. We are aware of Mayo Clinic guidelines but the BMI in the present study1 was assessed based on pre-pregnancy weight of the patients and the same has been mentioned in the Materials & Method section1. It was found that the women with GDM had significantly higher weight gain than non-GDM women. Kuppuswamy scale2 was used for assessment of socio-economic status in study population as our study participants were from urban field practice area and Kuppuswamy scale is used for the assessment of socio-economic status in urban area only, hence the same has been used.
