Effect of diazepam on dopamine and homovanillic acid levels in the corpus striatum of rats pretreated with γ-hydroxybutyric acid.

M Massotti1.

Abstract

The effects of increasing doses of diazepam on striatal dopamine (DA) and homovanillic acid (HVA) levels were studied in rats pretreated with γ-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB). A dose of 750 mg/kg of GHB causes a rise of both DA and HVA striatal levels in rats. Diazepam, administered to animals pretreated with GHB, induces a further increase of striatal DA and HVA levels.
