Abstract
OBJECTIVE(S): Different pharmacological effects of carvacrol including relaxant effect, its inhibitory effect on muscarinic and histamine (H1) and stimulatory effect on β-adrenoceptors have been demonstrated on guinea pig tracheal chains in previous studies. In the present study, the effect of carvacrol on blood IL-4, IFN- γ and endothelin levels of sensitized guinea pigs is examined.Entities:

The values are presented as mean±SEM. Three concentrations of the extract were 40 (S+C1), 80 (S+C2) and 160 µg/ml (S+C3) and that of dexamethasone was 50 μg/ml.
Statistical significance for the difference between the data of S+D vs S+C1, S+C2 and S+C3: *; 0.05, **; 0.01, ***; 0.001. The statistical comparisons were made using unpaired t test.
Statistical significance for the difference between the data of S+C3 vs S+C1 vs S+C2: ++; 0.01, +++; 0.001. Statistical significance for the difference between the data of S+C2 vs S+C3: ††; 0.01, †††; 0.001. The statistical comparisons were made using ANOVA with Tukey- Kramer multiple pot test
