Epchrosine - a new indole alkaloid isolated from plant cell cultures of Ochrosia elliptica Labill.

Abstract

From plant cell suspension cultures of Ochrosia elliptica Labill. an indole alkaloid of the apparicine type has been isolated, which is not known to occur in differentiated plants. The structure of the new compound, named epchrosine, was established by UV, MS and high resolution two-dimensional (1)H NMR (COSY and NOESY) as (19R,20R)-epoxyapparicine.
