Abstract
BACKGROUND: Hemorrhagic transformation (HT) of stroke is a disastrous complication in patients with infective endocarditis (IE). In patients with mechanical heart valves complicated by IE, physicians struggle with the appropriateness of anticoagulation administration given the risk of thromboembolism and HT of stroke.
