Abstract
BACKGROUND: Non-diabetic chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients are a heterogeneous group with a variety of prognosis. We investigated the role of subclinical carotid atherosclerosis for the prediction of adverse cardiovascular (CV) outcomes in these patients, and tried to identify clinical and echocardiographic parameters associated with subclinical carotid atherosclerosis.Entities:

Figure 1ROC curves for age, hs-CRP, and the E/E’ ratio for the prediction of carotid atherosclerosis. When age, hs-CRP and the E/E’ ratio were combined, the AUC significantly increased to 0.884.
Figure 2Cardiovascular event-free survival in analyses by cIMT, carotid plaque and carotid atherosclerosis. The presence of carotid atherosclerosis was significantly associated with poor prognosis in non-diabetic CKD patients.
