Some problems of day hospitals in community care of the mentally ill.

Abstract

The many problems that exist in the utilization of day hospitals for care of the mentally ill must he explored and resolved before the potential usefulness of these institutions can be recognized and achieved. This paper reviews some of the literature concerning day hospitals as community mental health resources, considers some of the main areas of functional conflict, and presents recommendations for future changes in the operation of these facilities.
