Abstract
Increasing incidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) which leads to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is one of the major health issues in the modern world and requires novel strategies for treatment. Adipose tissue has been recognized to have endocrine function and secretes a variety of hormones called adipokines. Several adipokines have been implicated in the pathogenesis of CKD and may have a strong impact as a risk factor for renal decline. The aim of this review is to provide an overview of the role of adipokines in the progression of CKD, with focus on recent experimental and clinical advances.Entities:
