Abstract
Despite a significant research effort, the optimal dialysis regimen remains a topic of major controversy. There is a growing interest in intensive hemodialysis regimens as they have been associated with positive outcomes in several observational studies. However, recent evidence from a large cohort study casts doubts on the benefits of intensive hemodialysis. In this paper, we review the evidence on this topic and discuss the most recent results in the context of the existing literature to provide a global appraisal of the state of the evidence.Mesh:
