Abstract
A simple, objective method for measuring hepatic encephalopathy (automated spectral analysis of the EEG) was tested for its prognostic value in a group of 60 patients with cirrhosis of the liver and in 10 patients with acute hepatic insufficiency. A highly significant correlation was found between the grade of hepatic encephalopathy and survival. This study further validates the clinical value of objectively grading hepatic encephalopathy by spectral analysis.Entities:
