Abstract
We evaluate the incidence of second neoplasms in 86 patients with osteosarcoma (OS) of the extremities treated with different protocols of adjuvant chemotherapy. Three patients developed phyllodes tumors as the second neoplasm. One of these patients simultaneously developed a third cancer with therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia. The sites of primary OS were the tibia (2) and humerus (1). None had received prior radiotherapy before excision of phyllodes tumor. All the patients were female with a median age of 21.7 years at the time of presentation. As yet, that precise causation is unclear, but it can increase our understanding of carcinogenic processes, in general.Entities:
