Abstract
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with increasing levels of morbidity and mortality. Full adherence to treatment recommendations such as pharmacological agents, dietary changes, physical activity and regular self-monitoring of blood glucose is essential to achieve good metabolic control. Cost-effective interventions such as individualised self-management education, cue-dose training and use of adherence aids have a positive impact on adherence to treatment recommendations, resulting in better glycaemic control. The application of these interventions could improve clinical outcomes within the NHS.Entities:
