Abstract
We report the case of a patient with suspected ulcerating necrotizing herpetic stromal keratitis who showed no improvement despite intensive (amongst others antiherpetic) topical and systemic therapy. The ulcer healed following amniotic membrane transplantation and penetrating excimer laser keratoplasty was performed to improve visual acuity. The excision showed deep stromal proof of herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 1 antigens.Entities:
