Abstract
Systemic mycoses are rare but important differential diagnoses in patients with imported infections. We report the case of a 51-year-old German traveller who acquired coccidioidomycosis during a holiday in Arizona, USA. The disease became apparent several months later primarily as a swelling of the tongue. Subsequent diagnostic investigations revealed infiltration of both lungs. The causal agent Coccidioides posadasii could be cultivated from transbronchial biopsy samples.Entities:
