Abstract
The solid pseudopapillary tumor (SPT) of the pancreas is a rare but low-grade malignant tumor with a good prognosis after surgical excision. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) is a minimally invasive, safe and reliable way of diagnosing SPT by providing characteristic cytological and immunochemical specimens. Definitive preoperative diagnosis leads to targeted and minimally invasive surgical resection. In this study, we report three cases of SPTs that were diagnosed through EUS-FNA and underwent successful laparoscopic surgery.Entities:

Summary of the clinical, ultrasonographic, and pathologic characteristics of solitary pseudopapillary tumors of the pancreas
US, ultrasonographic; F, female; M, male.
Figure 1Cell block of case 1 showing pseudopapillary architecture composed of monomorphic epithelioid cells (H&E, × 100).
Figure 2Cell block of case 1 showing a pseudopapillary fragment with a thin vascular core (H&E, × 200).
Figure 3Immunohistochemistry images of case 2. (A) Tumor cells show diffuse positivity for β-catenin (× 100). (B) Tumor cells show focal positivity for synaptophysin (× 200).
Figure 4Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) image of case 3 showing a mass in the tail of the pancreas. The 5-cm well-demarcated hypoechoic mass is composed of numerous tiny cysts. There is a splenic vessel between the stomach and mass. EUS-guided fine needle aspiration using a 25-gauge needle was aimed off splenic vessel.
