Abstract

New drugs for HIV/Aids have created a need for accessibility to treatments that governments have been unable to pay for. It has led to the emergence of an informal market of ARV drugs. Through the analysis of the Chilean case, we will see various forms of supply and demand, the consequences of such a market, and the means that can be considered to reduce undesirable effects. Micro-economic aspects as well as macro-economic features are considered.
