Abstract

Lung retransplantation accounts for only 2.6% of all lung transplantations performed worldwide. Overall survival after lung retransplantation is known to be worse than that of initial lung transplantation, but in cautiously selected lung recipients survival has been shown to be equally good. Decision about types of procedure is critical and meticulous patient care is also essential for success.
