As a consensus, some pediatric epilepsy centers consider referral to a neuropsychologist to be first-line care in these patients. • On the basis of strong evidence and consensus, antiepileptic drug therapy has its own complications and should be discontinued after an appropriate treatment course. • On the basis of moderate evidence and consensus, uncontrolled seizures put patients at risk for significant morbidity and mortality.
